The 1995 Zinfandel York Creek (90% Zinfandel, 6% Petite Sirah, 4% Alicante) is an elegant, reserved, slightly austere wine with ripe, tarry, smoky, berry fruit, high tannin, medium body, and an abrupt finish. It will benefit from another year of cellaring, and drink well for 5-7 years. The 1995 Ridge Zinfandels are made in a backward, austere style, and, with the exception of the Geyserville, Lytton Springs, and Paso Robles, they are wines that may not develop as much character as previous vintages.
