The 2009 Genium Fresc is a blend of 80% Garnacha and 20% Carinena aged in seasoned French oak for 3 months and bottled without filtration. It offers up reticent notes of mineral, espresso, violets, and blackberry. Dense, structured, and tannic on the palate, at the moment this is a one-dimensional wine that hopefully will unwind with a few more years of cellaring.
Genium Celler began in 2002 when six families from the Priorat village of Poboleda joined forces.
