Fresh, zesty apples can be found in the 2001 Riesling Smaragd Freiheit's aromatics. Spicy lemons, herbal teas, and hints of exotic fruits are revealed in this light to medium-bodied wine's flavor profile. It has excellent depth, richness, and focus. Drink it over the next 12 years. This tank sample was slated to be bottled in early April, three weeks after my visit to the estate. Subscribers who are inspired to visit the breathtakingly beautiful Wachau after reading this report should note that there are two Jamek estates in Joching.
