The outstanding 2008 Reserva (85% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha and 5% Carignan) exhibits plenty of spicy vanillin, forest floor, sweet, jammy black currant and black cherry fruit, and hints of cedarwood and Christmas fruitcake. Its complex aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, opulent, well-made Rioja that should drink well for 3-5 years.
