The 2009 Bancal (another word for terrace) is made up of 60% Garnacha, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Syrah aged for 6 months in seasoned French and American oak. Game, mineral, violets, black cherry, and blueberry aromas inform the nose of this layered, supple wine. Succulent on the palate and relatively forward, it can be approached now but will drink well for another 5-6 years.
Vinyes Domenech, founded in 2002, is a 42 acre estate with a cooler, drier site than most vineyards in the Montsant DO with all of the wines produced from organically grown grapes . The winery's total production is only 1625 cases.
