Penley's 2016 Phoenix Cabernet Sauvignon has come together nicely, yielding up balanced aromas of cedar, tobacco and cassis. It's medium to full-bodied, velvety and smooth, capturing the elusive cigar-box character as well as any New World Cabernet I've tasted recently, while remaining fruity and generous. Mature now, it should drink well for another several years.

Dense, with sink-your-teeth-into-them tannins and concentration to the plum, cassis and blackberry flavors. Sage and rosemary accents linger in the background.
