Faiveley made a stunning Clos Vougeot in 1988, which is oozing with the smell of red currants and toasty oak. In the mouth, it is pure velvet, jammy, berry fruit, and has a long, heady, alcoholic finish. It is a big wine by the standards of 1988, and while I did not see a great deal of tannin in it, the wine's sheer size suggests it will last for up to a decade.
