The 1999 Mazzoni Home Ranch Proprietary Red Wine (a blend of 50% Zinfandel, 30% Carignan, and the balance Petite Sirah) tips the scales at a modest 13.7% alcohol. Made in a Cotes du Rhone-like style, it offers rustic, earthy, sausage, spice, pepper, cherry, and leathery blackberry fruit. Medium-bodied and slightly austere, it is best drunk over the next 4-6 years. Tel. (408) 867-3233
