The J. Daniel Cuvee is a beautiful wine made from a blend of estate fruit that Proprietor Robin Lail owns on Howell Mountain blended with some purchased fruit from the Vine Hill Vineyard near Yountville. The 2002 is even better out of bottle than it was from barrel. This 950-case cuvee of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits an opaque purple color and a gorgeous nose of graphite intermixed with black currants, scorched earth, plums, licorice, and a hint of charcoal. The wine is full-bodied, with great intensity, tremendous delineation, and a long, heady finish revealing well-integrated acidity, tannin, and wood. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020+. Tel.
