The 2005 +7 is 50% Garnacha, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Syrah aged for 12 months in new French and American oak. It exhibits a slightly baked, mineral, black cherry, and black currant bouquet. This leads to a smooth-textured, chewy, ripe wine with plenty of spicy black fruits, good depth, some concealed tannin, and a medium-long finish. Early on it shows rich, ribald fruit aromas accented by graphite and licorice stick. Sweet, jammy, slightly reduced flavors of cassis and blackberry are chewy and dark, but not all that dense, complex or deep. Finishes persistent, with some grit and heat. Drink soon.
