The 2001 Hacienda Pradolagar comes from a single 3.3 hectare vineyard composed of 40% Tempranillo, 10% Mazuelo, 10% Garnacha, and the balance a field blend of other varietals. The wine was aged 22 months in 100% new French and Russian oak. Opaque purple colored, the wine has a flamboyant nose of pain grille, spice box, lead pencil, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. This large-scaled effort manages to be elegant and powerful at the same time with its superb concentration and balance. The pure finish goes on for nearly a minute. Cellar this beauty for 4-6 years and drink it for 10-15 years thereafter.
