With a storied tradition, this is one of the iconic whites of northern Italy. The Elena Walch 2019 Alto Adige Beyond the Clouds is a blend of Chardonnay and other complementary grapes. Past editions of this wine were much more floral and fragrant, but this 2019 edition takes on a drier and sharper personality. Aromas of white peach, minty apple and toasted almond are highlighted here. The oak adds to the spiciness of the bouquet and helps to flesh out the medium to almost full-weight mouthfeel. All this is capped off by zesty and spicy acidity. Some 14,000 bottles were released.

A lush and lovely range of nectarine, jasmine, melon and blood orange sorbet flavors glide across the palate in this vibrant white, enriched with subtle accents of ginger-infused pastry cream and hazelnut. Well-cut and mouthwatering, this is a sleek, medium-bodied version, with a lightly chalky, lingering finish. Predominantly Chardonnay.
