The dark ruby/plum-tinged 2006 Gigondas exhibits notes of raspberries, dusty, loamy soil, garrigue, and pepper. Although a smaller wine than the 2007, with less exuberant fruit and complexity, it displays this domaine’s tell-tale elegance, finesse, and balance. Enjoy it over the next 6-8 years. One of the benchmark producers of Gigondas, especially for elegant, complex wines that represent a synthesis in style between a grand cru red Burgundy and a southern Rhone, the Ay family’s beloved Domaine Raspail-Ay has turned out a gorgeously complete and sensual Gigondas in 2007.Importers: World Shippers and Importers, Philadelphia, PA; tel.
