The 1999 Grenache Gomersol (100% Grenache aged in 50% new French and 50% American oak) shows too much creamy wood to merit higher marks. It also has a quasi-international style, moderate tannin, and a structured, almost uncharacteristically tightly-knit style for Grenache. The color is a deep ruby/purple, and the wine is cleanly made and pure, but lacking expression and character.Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; tel. (888) 472-5283
