The 1985 Chambertin Clos de Beze from Faiveley is mature in color. The nose is generous and open, warm summer fruit, mandarin, clove and bay leaf unfurling nicely in the glass. The palate is soft on the entry and feels harmonious in the mouth, slightly grainy in texture with orange peel and mint infusing the red fruit, structured and a little hard-nosed on the finish that conveys abraded charm.
