Last year I reported on how impressive the 2001 Vacqueyras Vieilles Vignes performed from barrel. From bottle, this tank-fermented and aged blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah is exceptionally full-bodied and sweet, offering up aromas of licorice, truffles, kirsch liqueur, and cassis. Deep and powerful, it will benefit from 1-2 years of cellaring; it should last for a decade.
