Showing more black fruits, with hints of currants, black cherries, crushed stone and a touch of herb, the 2011 Pinot Noir Garys’ Vineyard has a slight Burgundian feel in its texture and acid profile. Nevertheless, there’s a core of sweet fruit that’s all California. Enjoy this balanced, richly textured effort over the coming 7-8 years. Drink now-2021.
A top producer in the Santa Lucia Highlands, Roar is run by Gary and Rosella Franscioni, with the wines now made by Scott Shapley as of the 2013 vintage (they were previously made by Ed Kurtzman). This is fantastic lineup of Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs.
