Wow! I was blown away by these Pinot Noirs from Roar. They all reveal unbelievable complexity, richness, and the extraordinary potential that exists in the Santa Lucia Highlands for this varietal. The dark ruby-hued 2004 Pinot Noir Garys’ Vineyard exhibits wonderful smoky, gamy characteristics interwoven with black currants and cherries. Approximately 60% new French oak is used, but the wine reveals wonderful integration of wood, acidity, and tannin. Full-bodied, fleshy, and beautifully expansive, this is another fragrant, compelling Pinot Noir from this up-and-coming producer.
