The 2001 Shiraz The Distance is a medium-bodied, elegantly-styled Shiraz that lacks the excitement of some of Barossa’s top offerings. Nevertheless, it is a well-made, dark ruby/purple-colored effort offering copious quantities of peppery black currant fruit. Although it lacks the power and complexity found in the finest Shiraz, it should be remembered that this is only the first effort from a winery with the potential to become a serious player in the Barossa Shiraz sweepstakes.Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; tel.
