From a 70-year old Willunga vineyard, the 2004 Shiraz Old Vine tips the scales at 14.9% alcohol. While packed and stacked, this loaded Shiraz is neither pruny, raisiny, nor over the top, a criticism, albeit a false one, often aimed at McLaren Vale and Barossa Shiraz. This offering exhibits pure blackberry and briery fruit characteristics intermixed with pain grille, espresso roast, and mocha. The aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, chewy, powerful, layered, rich, accessible wine that can be enjoyed now and over the next 7-8 years.
