This winery's red wine selections are nearly too good to believe! The oldest offering, the 1985 Gran Reserva reveals a medium ruby/garnet color, followed by a classic, old style Rioja nose of roasted herbs, sweet oak, minerals, and jammy, mature fruit. Round and velvety-textured, with considerable complexity, this is a fully mature, finesse-styled Rioja for drinking over the next 4-5 years.
This Rioja bodega must be one of the world's great value wineries. Readers may remember my ecstatic reviews of last year's releases, and I am just as thrilled about the new vintages. Readers depressed about the skyrocketing prices for well-known Italian, French, and Californian wines, should realize that Sierra Cantabria's wines offer spectacular relief from high prices. They are remarkable values
