Last Tasted 6/92
The 1979 white burgundy vintage has turned out many fine wines. They were gorgeous young and have generally evolved gracefully. Because they were so precocious and tasty when released, I initially thought they would be short-lived. The best examples have not only aged beautifully, but they have developed far more complex aromatics than the more heralded 1978s. This offering, which displays a beautiful nose of honey, oranges, flowers, and apples, is medium-bodied, with freshness, rich fruit, and a crisp, long finish. Although it has been drinkable since the early eighties, it is exhibiting no signs of decline.
