A racy, lively white, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc offers up notions of fresh melon, citrus blossom and pear to go with a medium-bodied, steely and crisp profile on the palate. It is borderline outstanding and will evolve gracefully for a number of years. Drink now-2017.
This first-rate estate has been run by cousins Guillaume and Bertrand Gonnet since 2006. Encompassing 74 acres in Chateauneuf du Pape and 50 acres in Cotes du Rhone, these wines are always beautifully perfumed, silky and lean towards the more fruit-driven, finesses-styled end of the spectrum. Both 2011 and 2012 are strong here.
