Clerico's 1997 Barolo Mosconi Per Cristina Riserva (named after his daughter who, tragically, died at the age of seven) is tannic and backward. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of new saddle leather, licorice, black cherries, and the tell-tale rose petals. Closed aromatically, with huge flavors, copious glycerin, as well as abundant tannin, this full-bodied, loaded 1997 requires an additional 5-6 years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2030.A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300, Vin Divino, Chicago, IL; tel.
