Very good is the opaque purple-colored, full-bodied 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate. This blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc reveals a sweet, cedary, black currant nose displaying a judicious dose of toasty new oak. Full-bodied and pure, with nicely integrated acidity and tannin, it comes across as Bordeaux-like, but with the ripeness and weight of a big California Cabernet. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2022. The 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain (a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc) is an elegant, Bordeaux look-alike, exhibiting black currants intermixed with licorice, loamy soil, plum, and cherry notes.
