Smoky, dusty aromas of white pepper and caramelized minerals can be detected in the nose of the 2003 Riesling Eiswein Mulheimer Helenenkloster. A dense, syrupy offering, it offers jammy red fruit flavors that are intermingled with molasses and butterscotch. Thick, deep, and powerful, this is an expressive wine that is armed with an extremely long, sweet finish. While it will undoubtedly last for decades, I recommend drinking it before it becomes completely dominated by burnt sugar flavors. Anticipated maturity: now-2012.
