The 2000 Chianti Classico, a dark garnet, is a substantial notch above the competition in its warm aromas of plums, resin, mint and tar. Generous and enveloping on the palate, with tar and chocolate to supplement the ripe fruit, it is silky and fragrant on its long finish. This is one regular bottling which should easily be good for another four to five years. Princess Coralia Ghertsos Pignatelli della Leonessa is never in a hurry to release her wines, as the current releases demonstrate.
