The 2012 Pinot Noir Evelyn's is 50 percent Dijon and 50 percent Pommard clone and represents a barrel selection. It was picked October 6-7 and includes 7.5 percent whole-cluster fruit. This vintage includes 50 percent new oak. It has a perfumed, sensual bouquet with tightly wound brambly red berry fruit laced with lavender and rose petal, the oak nicely assimilated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite crisp and tensile in the mouth with touches of orange rind infusing the red berry fruit. Probably the most masculine of the 2012s but it will require a couple of year's in barrel.
