A stunning wine, Ambroise’s 2003 Clos Vougeot (red) underwent a cuvaison that lasted twice as long as any of the estate’s other reds. Medium to dark ruby-colored, it boasts rich aromatics of red licorice (Twizzlers), blackberries, raspberries, and red cherries. Deep, dense, thick, and silky-textured, this fresh, spicy effort is jam-packed with red fruits (cherries, raspberries, strawberries, currants). It is medium to full-bodied, powerful yet elegant, and has a prolonged finish filled with impressive quantities of spices and fruits. Projected maturity: now-2017.
