This deep ruby/purple-colored wine reveals some of the tell-tale herb (V-8 vegetable juice) character (a hallmark of Santa Barbara Pinot), combined with copious quantities of full-bodied black cherry and berry fruit. The wine is dense, concentrated, exceptionally pure, and creamy-textured. It is a sumptuous, herb-tinged, full-throttle Pinot Noir with no hard edges. It should drink well for at least 2-4 years.
Over the last several years, there has been considerable evidence that Adam Tolmach's Ojai Vineyard is among the leading candidates for Santa Barbara's top winery. The brilliance of these wines over the last several vintages has been uncontestable. Ojai's new releases include many stunning wines, particularly the Pinot Noir and Syrah offerings. This is not to say the whites are uninteresting.
