Groffier's better wines were unquestionably successful in 1993. His Chambertin Clos de Beze is top notch. It boasts a deep ruby color, and a sweet, evolved nose of herbs, red and black fruits, and pain grillee. Full-bodied, dense, and concentrated, with moderate tannin, this is an exceptional example of Clos de Beze. It should be even better with 3-4 years of cellaring.
