The single-vineyard 2014 Finca Montico is pure head-pruned Verdejo from a 40-year-old vineyard that is produced like the wines of yesteryear: direct pressing of the bunches (after being sorted) and fermentation in stainless steel with part in 6,000-liter French oak foudres (less oak than in the past), where the wine matures in contact with the lees for five months. There are notes of herbs, spices and a mixture of flowers and yellow fruit, quite harmonious, without traces of oak. The palate is both round and fresh, powerful and elegant, with very good balance. This should improve with some time in bottle. 35,000 bottles produced.
