One of the cult wines of La Jota is Petite Sirah. The grapes come from the old Park-Muscatine Vineyard now owned by Randy Dunn (and from which Ridge used to purchase grapes). This vineyard has produced some exceptional Petite Sirahs over the last few years. These wines look like ink, yet possess surprisingly sweet fruit in spite of their massive size. The 1995 Petite Sirah is a huge, monolithic wine with an opaque blue/black color, huge body, copious amounts of thick, juicy fruit, and a lashing of tannin at the back of the palate. It is a touch more angular and backward than either the 1994 is, or the 1996 promises to be, but it has exceptional potential. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2020.Tel. (707) 965-3020; Fax (707) 963-7874
