While you are waiting for the Mazys-Chambertin to mature, enjoy the gloriously fat, ripe, chewy, powerful 1990 Chapelle-Chambertin. It is a Burgundy that admirably marries elegance and finesse with considerable richness, resulting in a wine that makes an intense impression, yet does not taste heavy or overly extracted. Although soft, there is plenty of tannin in the finish, as well as the juicy, sweet fruit that is characteristic of the best 1990s. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.
