The 2013 Chateauneuf du Pape is a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and the rest an assortment of permitted varieties. Aged 15 months in small barrels and older foudres, it has a modern edge in its cassis, toasted bread and black raspberry-laced bouquet. This gives way to a medium-bodied, elegant, yet straightforward and narrow palate that has lively acidity and a clean finish. Drink it over the coming 5-7 years.
