Easily the best of the 2014s, the 2014 Gigondas Les Secrets de Montmirail gives up lots of rich black cherry and black raspberry-styled fruits, crushed pepper and Violet aromas and flavors (it’s actually very similar to the 2013 Les Hautes de Montmirail release). Medium-bodied and elegant on the palate, it shows the fresher, more mid-weight, narrow style of the vintage yet is still impressive and shines for its purity and length. As with most 2014, I suspect it will drink well on release.
