Primarily from estate vineyards, the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits notes of ripe raspberries, blueberries, and kirsch interwoven with spicy oak, subtle wood, and earthy undertones. With silky tannin and decent acidity, this medium-bodied, elegant Cabernet should drink nicely for 10-15 years. The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a slightly denser style (100% Cabernet Sauvignon and again 14.3% natural alcohol) with an inky, ruby/purple color and a beautiful nose of blackcurrant liqueur, incense, licorice and a floral component. It is medium to full-bodied, pure, youthful, and capable of at least another 10-15 years of evolution. Readers should note that the lower alcohols one sees at Keenan are largely the result of high elevation mountain viticulture and a cooler climate. This is a beauty of symmetry, equilibrium, purity and class.
