Soaring from the glass with a striking bouquet of sweet red fruits, cocoa and woodsmoke, the 1964 Pommard 1er Cru Pezerolles is full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a remarkably vibrant, juicy core of concentrated fruit, melting tannins and a long, exquisitely detailed and delicately chalky finish. This had sat in the domaine's cellar on its original cork since bottling, so provenance doesn't get much better, but it is testimony to the fact that this Pommard producer has been a very serious source of fine red Burgundy for quite some time.
