Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot has a withdrawn, reticent bouquet at the moment. It is nicely defined with attractive flinty aromas, but it needs to show more fruit. That will come with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a spicy, ginger-tinged entry. The acidity is well judged and there is commendable weight in the mouth, fanning out gently towards the finish that lingers thanks to its saline residue. Very fine, as one expects from Alex Moreau's wines. Tasted May 2016.
