I tasted four premiers crus from Bernard Morey, all of them outstanding wines. The 1994 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot is far more open than most offerings from this vineyard, a terroir known for its steely, structured style of white Burgundy. Morey's wine possesses exquisite length, a big, buttery, mineral-scented nose, and dense, full-bodied, powerful flavors with huge amounts of fruit and glycerin. This is a massive white Burgundy that should drink well for 7-8 years. If there is one Morey wine that requires a year or more of cellaring, it is this one. Vineyard Brands, Inc., Chester, VT; tel.
