Arriving in a sort of a funny flat 500-milliliter bottle, the 2018 Sangiovese Passito Vero Amore seems to live in a world of its own. I confess to be surprised by the red color and the bright tones of sweet crème de cassis and cherry confit, unfolding in lots of fragrant layers. And here's what's most unexpected: It even gives us notes of chocolate cake. Beyond that, the wine has a medium structure and density. This is a very cute wine in form and function.
