The 2010 Cerasuolo di Vittoria is 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Frappato. It is a big, plush Cerasuolo that needs at least a few more months in bottle to come together. Sweet red fruit, spices and flowers are some of the notes that emerge from this tasty Cerasuolo. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. These new releases from Planeta include the first wines I have tasted from the family's new venture on Mount Etna. It will be interesting to see the direction those wines take, as the Etna is a terrain suited to indigenous varieties, while Planeta has built a reputation thus far with international grapes.
