The 2014s are certainly a step back from the 2015s, but they’re solid in the vintage and have plenty of upfront charm. The 2014 Chateauneuf du Pape Empire is mostly Grenache (15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre) and was aged in 80% concrete tanks and 20% in demi-muids. Black cherries, leather, roasted herbs and licorice flow to a medium-bodied, juicy, charming and delicious Chateauneuf du Pape that will provide plenty of pleasure over the coming 6-7 years.
