From vines planted in 1997 at 1,400 feet in elevation, the deep ruby-purple colored 2017 Syrah Colson Canyon Vineyard (25% new oak) gives up chocolate-covered cherries, crushed stone, pencil shavings, black cherry jam, smoked meats and pepper with red berry sparks. The medium to full-bodied palate is silky and intense with firm, pleasantly chewy tannins and great freshness, finishing long and layered. Yum!
