Always the richest and most powerful of the single-vineyard releases, the 2013 Syrah Colson Canyon Vineyard is the only single-vineyard Syrah to see any new oak, yet the oak is always completely soaked up by the wealth of fruit. The 2013s inky purple color is followed by a decadent array of plums, blueberries, smoked herbs and violets characteristics that literally come soaring from the glass. Full-bodied, voluptuous and about as hedonistic as they come with lots of sweet fruit, this powerhouse effort has no hard edges and a great finish. Like a lot of Joey's wines, this pushes on the sweetness level, yet is still one sexy drink.
