Elderton's 1996 CSM Proprietary Red (a 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Shiraz, and 10% Merlot blend) is a glorious, fruit-driven wine with lavish quantities of smoky new oak, dense, thick, juicy, chocolate, blackberry and cherry fruit flavors, low acidity, and a fat, ostentatious, showy mid-section and finish. This sumptuous, explosively fruity/oaky wine is not subtle, but it does offer thrilling hedonistic levels of fruit.
