This winery’s red wine program continues to merit attention. Their entry-level 2005 Pinot Noir “GB” – matured in large ovals and some older barriques – again represents an excellent value, exhibiting juicy fresh blackberry and cherry tinged with subtly bitter cherry pit character, and accompanied by carnal and stony complexity of a sort one seldom encounters in any Burgundy vintner’s Bourgogne rouge. Clear and bright – with no superficial sweetness or woodiness in the finish – this ripe, refined, versatile Pinot can be savored over the next 12-18 months.
