The 2006 Petite Sirah Thomann Station (named after an old railroad stop in St. Helena) exhibits a similar black purple color along with more floral, peppery, licorice, blackberry, and smoke characteristics as well as a distinctive meatiness. Surprisingly supple, fleshy, and teeth- and palate-staining, it can be drunk now. Its civilized tannins and exuberant personality are perfect for those who like their wines slightly massive, but supple. It should age effortlessly for two decades.
This is a beautiful portfolio of wines from Robert Biale Vineyards. The Stagecoach Vineyard is a large parcel nearly 500 acres on the hillsides above Oakville.
