The 2008 Old Bush Vines Single Vineyard La Aguada is composed of 85% Carignan with the balance Cinsault and Malbec from a 1955 planting. There is not much of it but the quality of the old-vine Carignan in certain regions of Chile is a well-kept secret. The wine was aged for 24 months in French oak. Deep purple in color, it offers up an already complex nose of exotic spices, plum, mulberry, incense, lavender, and wood smoke. Savory, ripe, plush, and multi-dimensional, this lengthy, impeccably balanced wine merits 5-6 years of cellaring and offers a drinking window extending from 2017 to 2028.
