The 2007 Chianti Riserva Castelrotto is 85% Sangiovese and 15% Merlot aged in French oak barrels. As readers can see, it is the estate’s more modern Chianti. The oak gives the Castelrotto a nice sense of volume, warmth and spiciness to complement the fruit. This is undoubtedly a very fine bottle, but I increasingly find the Mori wine I actually want to drink is the straight Chianti. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020.
